Group D Chairman
Martin Medina is Chairman of the Caribbean Shipping Association’s Group D (NVOCCs, Freight Forwarders and/or OTIs), the key sector of third party intermediary companies. Mr. Medina is also General Manager of Caribtrans Logistics LLC as well as VI Cargo Services LLC – Miami, Florida.
Mr. Medina has been in the shipping industry for 27 years, his career having been initiated in the Dominican Republic with Sea-Land Services Inc. in late 1989 where he started in operations, temporarily worked in Human Resources and finally progressed to Sales and Management. In 1996 Martin joined Maersk Inc. where he worked in Sales and Management on the liner side and then assumed P&L responsibility in their logistics arm, Maersk Logistics, today renamed as DAMCO.
In 2005 he started with Tropical Shipping in the management of the country and in 2008 relocated as Regional Manager based in Puerto Rico managing the ports of San Juan, Caucedo and Puerto Plata. Mr. Medina was promoted and relocated to Florida as General Manager of the NVOCC companies, where he is today. The many areas from operations, Sales and Management that he has worked have been instrumental to his success and to further his career knowledge in 2001 he secured a Global Logistics Specialist designation at the Long Beach California University.
Mr. Medina is also on the Membership Committee of the Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association (FCBF), Miami, Florida.
