David Jean-Marie is a highly regarded professional with over 20 years experience in public sector management. Hailed as an industry leader, he has brought his strategic focus, passion and financial expertise to the shipping industry and the Barbados Port Inc., where he serves in the capacity of Financial Controller & Corporate Secretary since 2004, as well as Chief Executive Officer since March, 2011.
His vision and transformative leadership have made an indelible impact on the shipping industry of Barbados. He oversaw the development of the comprehensive draft Port of Bridgetown Master Plan for 2011 to 2021; a crucial document that will guide the improvement of the Bridgetown Port over the next decade.
As a young Fulbright scholar, David attained a Master of Business Administration, Finance, at the University of New Haven and has continued his professional development over the years, pursuing courses and attending conferences in South Africa, the UK and Barbados. His ability to inspire and motivate others, leading by example, has enabled him to play a pivotal role in fostering and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders in the public sector.
Widely respected by his peers, David was elected President of the CSA at its 2015 Annual General Meeting, after having served for three years in the capacity of Vice President. He also held such positions as Chairman for the CSA's Group B , representing Port owners and Operators across the Caribbean and Central America.
David serves on several boards: COB Financial Services Incorporated (Chairman); City of Bridgetown Co-operative Credit Union (Former President and Board Member); and Cooperator’s General Insurance Company Limited (Former Secretary and Board Member).
