IMG 0867A pledge of financial assistance to hurricane-ravaged Caribbean territory Haiti from President David Jean Marie marked the ceremonial opening of the Caribbean Shipping Association’s (CSA) 46th Annual General Meeting, Conference & Exhibition at the Hyatt Regency Port of Spain, Trinidad on Monday, October 17, 2016.

“There is a need for urgent humanitarian assistance to Haiti, given the level of destruction. In addition to the efforts we may be making individually or through our companies and countries, the General Council wishes to have the CSA involved in tangible ways. We have therefore commenced a drive to raise funds by pledging an initial USD 10,000, and we invite all our members and associates to contribute through the Secretariat. We will soon be writing you in this regard,” he said.

Executives from shipping lines, ship’s agents, customs and maritime authorities, agencies, ports and terminals across this hemisphere who represent the largest and most influential shipping and logistics interests are now arriving in Port of Spain for three days of discourse, information exchange and networking as the Shipping Association of Trinidad & Tobago hosts the Caribbean Shipping Association’s (CSA) 46th Annual General Meeting, Conference & Exhibition from October 17-19, 2016.

The almost 350 registered participants, hailing not only from the Caribbean, but North, South and Central America,as well as Europe, will enjoy the benefits of involvement in the region's premier international maritime executives’ conference while experiencing exceptional networking opportunities at a business exposition for suppliers of key products and services. The event kicks off at the Hyatt Regency Port of Spain hotel, where CSA President David Jean Marie will welcome delegates.

The Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) will tend to the business of the organization at its Annual General Meeting on Sunday, ahead of the offical opening. A special highlight of the day’s activities will be a presentation by National Energy Corporation of Trinidad & Tobago Ltd (NEC).

Speaker-01-01A distinguished panel of speakers has been assembled for the Shipping Executives’ Conference accompanying the CSA’s 2016 Annual General Meeting at the Hyatt Regency, Trinidad, this October 17th – 19th. The group comprises sought-after, international experts, who will lead a series of probing discussions on a wide range of issues set to influence maritime trade beyond 2016. This continues the CSA’s tradition of providing a platform which advances the region’s shipping industry, through thought-leading discourse and networking with influencers and other high-level professionals at the forefront of global shipping and logistics.

Delegates attending the Caribbean Shipping Association’s (CSA) 46th Annual General Meeting, Conference & Exhibition in Trinidad are in for a treat this year with the traditional end of conference gala taking an even more sophisticated twist.

The CSA’s highly anticipated annual Port Awards Competition is the high point of the 3-day event, when the CSA’s Port Awards Committee reviews the business performance of participating ports to determine which one stands above the rest. This year organisers will be hosting a masked ball, giving delegates a chance to bring their personal style and creativity with their masks and outfits for the evening of festivities.

The Caribbean Port Awards competition has helped to attract new business for regional seaports and terminal operators in the Caribbean and Latin American region and has helped to validate the efforts and initiatives taken by local port authorities and terminals to upgrade and improve their facilities. This competition therefore serves as a significant marketing platform for Caribbean ports and terminals to introduce their development and expansion programmes to a global audience.
