L’Union Maritime Et Portuaire de Guadeloupe (The Port and Maritime Association of Guadeloupe) is a dynamic and interconnected body disseminating information about port and maritime industry to its members and acting as the main pillar for the development of this industry both locally and internationally.
Established more than thirty years ago to act as spokesman and serve all stakeholders of the port community, UMEP includes:
- The Stevedores Association
- The Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers Association,
- Ship-owners and Consignees Association.
UMEP also has some honorary members such as the Chamber of Commerce, the Port Authority
Strong from its local, national and international partnerships, UMEP is often a voice towards the French Government such as, in 2014, when UMEP gave its support to the extension project of the Port of Guadeloupe. Recently, UMEP has supported the publication of “Port in transition to face global challenges” from the SEFACIL Foundation.
