MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

For over five decades, the Caribbean Shipping Association has been a key figure in the expansion of the regional maritime industry through advocacy, training and development.

The CSA is comprised of diverse entities which share similar challenges and avenues for opportunities.

Without question, organizations within the CSA benefit from a confluence of ideas and innovation through its annual general meeting, exhibition and conference, as well as a myriad of other collaborative efforts.

Whether through in-person, virtual or combination instruction , the CSA curates information that advises best practices and fosters their standardization; shares invaluable research and provide training and leadership opportunities that permit companies to deliver best-in-class service to their clientele.

Our concern is our members, and through advocacy; philanthropy; training; and constructive exchanges, the CSA underscores the collective value of individual memberships. 

Membership Matters

The Association is the Caribbean’s primary connector of dots in the regional shipping, forging relationships and enabling exchanges, agreements and transactions that have provided employment, generated revenue and spurred the development of the maritime industry. 

Through our initiatives and events, including the AGM, Conference and Exhibition, the CSA has aided members and national associations to network with leaders, learn from industry innovators and celebrate global achievements that have distinguished our diverse and engaging membership from other comparable organizations. 

The CSA allows members to connect and communicate with other maritime players, removing professional impediments, while providing a platform to benefit from world-class training, industry-specific data resources and a standardized approach to enacting reforms and underscoring members’ achievements.

Membership of the Caribbean Shipping Association

is divided into two (2) main categories - 'ORDINARY' and 'ASSOCIATE' Members.

Ordinary Members

GROUP A:

AGENTS - Ships' agents and private stevedoring contractors including National Shipping Associations.

GROUP B:

PORTS - Port and Terminal Owners and Operators.

GROUP C:

LINES - Shipowners/Operators -specifically those who have had regular services operating for at least two years within the Caribbean region.

GROUP D:

NVOCC - Non-vessel Operating Common Carriers

Associate Members

The ASSOCIATE MEMBERS category comprises all persons and/or companies who may not be admitted to Ordinary Membership of the Association. Associate Members are not entitled to vote at Group or General Meetings.

Eligibility For Membership

The Caribbean Shipping Association accepts membership for any of its four (4) Groups from bona fide entities operating in the Caribbean region.

  • GROUP A: AGENTS – Ships’ agents and private stevedoring contractors including National Shipping Associations. 
  • GROUP B: PORTS – Port and Terminal Owners and Operators. 
  • GROUP C: LINES – Shipowners/Operators -specifically those who have had regular services operating for at least two years within the Caribbean region.
  • GROUP D: NVOCC – Non-vessel Operating Common Carriers 

The Caribbean Shipping Association defines the Caribbean Region in specific terms:

  • The Greater and Lesser Antilles
  • The Bahamas
  • Belize
  • Bermuda
  • French Guiana
  • Guyana
  • Suriname
  • Venezuela
  • The areas of the United States of America, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala that border the Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of  Mexico.
