Liebherr delivers third STS crane to PSA Penn Terminals

Liebherr Container Cranes has further strengthened its partnership with PSA Penn Terminals by delivering a third ship-to-shore (STS) container crane to the Philadelphia-based facility. This latest addition to the terminal’s fleet underscores Liebherr’s commitment to providing high-quality machinery and comprehensive support to its US customers.

The new STS crane, manufactured in Ireland, boasts impressive capabilities, including a 157-foot outreach, a 60-foot span, and a 50-foot back reach. With a lift height of 115 feet and a safe working load of 66 tons, the crane is designed to significantly enhance operational efficiency and capacity at the terminal.

The delivery reinforces Liebherr’s position as a trusted partner for US container ports, said Winston Ziegler, Head of Sales, Maritime Cranes, Liebherr USA, adding that the cranes offer industry-leading availability during vessel operations, ensuring smooth and efficient port operations.

John Brennan, President, and CEO of PSA Penn Terminals expressed his satisfaction with the new addition. “This new Liebherr STS crane once again demonstrates our lasting commitment to being one of the best-equipped, privately owned container terminals on the US East Coast,” he said.

Declan O’Sullivan, General Manager Sales with Liebherr Container Cranes Limited, highlighted the company’s long-standing presence in the US market. “Our first container crane delivery to the USA was in 1978, and since then, we have continued to supply high-performing cranes to meet the needs of our customers,” he stated.

Liebherr’s continued investment in the US market reflects its dedication to providing innovative and efficient container handling solutions. By supplying cutting-edge equipment and comprehensive support, Liebherr is helping US ports stay at the forefront of the industry.
